Director - Africa

Today our focus is Sub-Saharan Africa, where ThinkMD is building partnerships with governments, NGOs, private healthcare providers, pharmacy networks, insurers, pharmaceutical companies and telecommunications providers.

Director - Africa is a new role which will be ThinkMD's commercial executive responsible for the growth and execution of the company's strategy in Africa. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this executive will work closely with the CEO, Product and Clinical teams while building ThinkMD's commercial presence across Africa.

The role is accountable for growing the company’s revenue; and developing, executing and refining ThinkMD's commercial model across public, private and citizen healthcare sectors. This includes securing strategic partnerships, leading customer success, validating commercial approaches and generating market intelligence that informs company strategy and product development.

ThinkMD is looking for an exceptional executive with start-up experience and a reputable network across Africa to lead the next phase of growth on the continent.

This is a remote role based anywhere in Sub-Saharan Africa, with regular regional travel.

The key responsibilities for this role are:

1. Own ThinkMD's commercial strategy across Africa.

2. Develop long-term partnerships with governments, NGOs and private-sector health organisations.

3. Identify and unlock new market opportunities.

4. Build scalable commercial systems and regional capability.

5. Influence product direction through customer and market insight.

6. Represent ThinkMD with senior stakeholders across Africa.

The successful candidate will being:

• 10–15+ years' experience leading commercial growth across Africa.
• Demonstrated success building partnerships with governments, NGOs and private healthcare organisations.
• Education and experience in digital health, healthcare, technology, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications or another highly regulated industry.
• Experience growing early-stage or venture-backed businesses.
• Track record of leading geographically distributed teams.
• Strong understanding of African health systems and procurement environments.

Preferred experience will include:

• Experience working with Ministries of Health.
• Relationships with major donors (USAID, Gates Foundation, Global Fund, UNICEF, etc.).
• Experience selling enterprise SaaS or digital platforms.
• Experience operating in multiple African markets.
• Familiarity with AI or digital health technologies.
